Valley School Phone Policy

Don't let a cell phone get in your way!
Cell Phone Policy

We, at Valley School, work to support our students to help them achieve their goals.  That work includes identifying and removing barriers that may get in the way of their progress.  One of those identified barriers is student use of cell phones during class time.  Therefore, in the best interest of our students, we are revising our phone policy.

We hope this change will not only assist students to maintain their focus on schoolwork but will also help them learn and practice workplace phone use expectations.

Students are now expected to keep their phones put away during class time.  Students may use their phones before and after their classes at Valley and on breaks.

We appreciate that parents work with Valley School staff to help our students become successful, responsible students and future employees.   We are asking you to assist us by waiting until non-class times to let your student respond to your phone messages.  Class times may be found by clicking on the link below.   In case of an emergency, you may call our main office at 970-255-2708.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me.

Thank you,

Sara Krick

Additional Information:

As a Valley School community/family, we have found that students respect the Valley School culture.  We expect the same will hold true for our new cell phone policy.  However, to be transparent, if a student chooses to use his/her phone outside of Phone Policy guidelines, the following will occur:

  • 1st - Student is given reminder to put the phone away
  • 2nd – Student is asked to have the teacher hold the phone until the end of class
  • 3rd – Student is asked to go to the office to have the principal hold the phone until the end of the day
  • 4th – Parent is asked to come pick up the phone at the parent's convenience
