Valley Comes Together For Students

Our Plan to Work Together
Together WE Can!

See the letter below from Valley's principal to students and parents outlining how Valley staff, students, and parents will work together to stay focused on what is important, our students, during this time of distance learning.

Hello Valley students and families,

Although the district has closed our school building, we are excited to be able to continue working with our students via online learning.  We are fortunate at Valley to have options in place for students to access their Valley classes through Schoology, GradPoint, and emails.  Our hope is, students will be comfortable continuing with classes via one of these options.  Our teachers are here for you.  You may not see them in person but they will continue to support your learning online.  We can do this!

If you are working on a GradPoint class, as you work through your lessons please take the notes you need to help you pass your tests.  Email your teacher if you cannot access the pre-tests and post-tests.  We have changed our GradPoint test taking procedures while you are learning from home.  You will be able to take your tests at home.  Your teachers and I trust you to take these tests as if your teacher proctored them in the classroom.  Always remember, learning is the priority.  You earn credit because you have shown you have learned the information.  We appreciate that you always remain young men and young women of honor and integrity.

There will be a GradPoint “final” that will replace the Review test that is typically the end of course test.  This final will be in Schoology.  Your teacher can help you when you are ready to take this last test before earning the credit.

If you are working in Schoology, continue with your project as if you were working at school.  If you have questions, please email your teacher.  Your teachers are on duty every day and will respond to your questions.

If you are working on a Reading List or Reading Lab, please email Mrs. Flook, even if your teacher is Mr. Nash.  She will provide you with the information you need to continue earning credit with the list or lab.

If you are working on an essay or presentation, please email your teacher to discuss revisions or any questions you may have.  We can use Google Meet to complete any presentation expectations.

Your advisor will reach out to you weekly to help you with your weekly goals and reflections.  Your teachers will be in touch every week to check your academic progress.  Our commitment to you and your learning is strong.  We also expect you to have the same level of commitment.  Schedule a time every day to do your schoolwork.  Communicate with your teachers.

If you do not have internet at home, schools have expanded their Wi-Fi capability so you may access the internet outside of school buildings.  Please stay in your cars and maintain a safe distance from others.

Below is a list of our Valley teachers.  They will be monitoring their email Monday – Friday, 8:30AM – 2:30PM.

Change can be difficult and confusing. If you need to reach out to Mrs. Starr, our counselor, please   email her.  She will be there for you.  Mrs. Starr will also be in touch with seniors regarding progress toward graduation.    lori.starr@d51schools.org

Valley students, please never forget that we care about you.  We miss seeing you, but I want you to know you are in our thoughts.  You are important to us.  You are our Valley School family and we are a community working in partnership together every single day.

Take care,

Sara Krick   sara.krick@d51schools.org
